“They” aren’t “going after” Timothy Zahn. I’ve been wading through alarmist comments on Facebook re: Baen authors and Wikipedia. The brief notability tag on Sharon Lee’s page is still causing ripples of concern, even though it was removed. The other example that keeps coming up is Timothy Zahn.
As I documented here, Zahn’s page does have a warning at the start FROM 2012.
That warning has been sitting there literally for years. It’s also not a notability tag but rather a tag to ensure that pages about actual living people contain verified claims. If there’s a wikispiracy against Zahn, they are playing a very, very long game…

Good grief, Wikipedia is *littered* with those “will someone clean this article up” notices, they’re not meaningful at all.
(Also, is Zahn identifiably a right winger? I’ve never heard a thing about his politics)

I’ve no idea what his politics are but he’s popular among the SF-right crowd.

Ah, there was also the puppy thing about tie-in authors being snubbed wasn’t there?

Also, he’s still writing a Star Wars character from the previous (pre-Disney) Star Wars Extended Universe

Only one? Didn’t he create both Thrawn and Mara Jade? I only read the first few EU books many, many years ago but I still remember those two.

I’m at the limits of my knowledge but isn’t it that Thrawn is now somehow part of the new canon?

Yes, I think his latest Thrawn series is canon, and is some sort of re-origination of the character. (I read his original Heir to The Empire books a long time ago, but not the new ones, so the details escape me as well)

Yes, Thrawn is still around in the new canon, though Mara Jade is not, which is a pity because I always liked Mara Jade a lot more than I liked Thrawn.

I read that particular flag as “Wikipedia might be inadvertently libelling X; please tie all statements of fact to reliable sources”, i.e. the opposite of “going after” X.

Snort, did you just increase their conspiracy theory, Camestros? That’s funny.
Timothy Zahn is somewhat libertarian, as far as I’m aware. But not anywhere in Puppy/rabid conservative territory.
Cora Buhl: “Yes, Thrawn is still around in the new canon, though Mara Jade is not, which is a pity because I always liked Mara Jade a lot more than I liked Thrawn.”
You may be in luck. The rumor is that there will be a version of Mara Jade in an up-coming Star Wars movie. But it hasn’t been officially confirmed.

There was already alarm being spread about Zahn. However, what the Pups did miss was Honor Harrington’s Article for Deletion…
