We’ve talked a lot about the flaws of various award systems but part of the broader solution to the competing needs and problems with awards is pluralism: multiple awards that use different approaches and have different constituencies. I think the Ignyte Awards are a great addition to that.
The Awards have some overlap of categories with other notable genre awards but also some unique categories. The approach of using a juried shortlist and a free open popular vote to pick the winner reduces the potential problem of brigading votes while removing barriers to participation. However, the test of an award is whether it is creating interesting lists of finalists and so far, each year of the award has presented finalists that hit a sweet spot of some overlap with other awards but with sufficient difference to add to the range of works getting recognition.

Now you can just copy and paste from here! (Unless that doesn’t work either)

I gave that a shot. My WordPress just sniffed and played dead.

Except I think WordPress is like Voldemort, so that won’t work.
