  1. I’ve got everything except Best Related Work. (I’m not voting on Fancast or Art Book.) I went on A03 and had a look around today, and that is a massive time suck. But the interface and organization is very good, and I guess that’s what the nomination is for.

  2. AAAHHH! No, actually I finished up yesterday. For once, a few days ahead of time. I had a lot of stuff read/watched before the finalist list came out, and I don’t bother with retro. Now I just need to keep myself from going back and fiddling with some of my rankings.

  3. It’s weird to me that they have supposed counts of how close votes are given that voters can still change their votes up through the deadline….are they just counting paper votes for these?

    1. Those totals are based on live raw electronic totals, which of course can change from moment-to-moment (any paper ballots they’ve received have been entered into the electronic totals).

Note that the Hugo Admin isn’t really giving any meaningful information away with those tweets. As soon as the IRV process is started and votes are redistributed, the gap between the 1st and 2nd place vote-getters will likely get much larger — possibly in favor of the 2nd or 3rd place finalist. So while the tweets may have some provocative value, and may possibly prompt a couple of people to vote who otherwise wouldn’t have, what they’re saying doesn’t really have any meaning.

      1. Yeah, fair enough – I heavily suspect some of the closer categories are the Retro Awards and more obscure awards where the vote totals are much lower, but either way they’re not spoiling anything.

  4. Ah, Panic Blob my old friend, we meet again.

I’ve been a bit distracted and there’s some stuff I’ve not got to properly, like editor packets and so on. There may be some last minute skimming this evening…

  5. I generally vote the day voting starts, based on the things I’ve read by that point. Then I amend it later based on things I read from the packet (or shows we watch). That way, if something comes up (or I just get lazy), I’ve already voted.

    1. Yes, pretty sure I voted on at least the short fiction and dp short at the time the ballot opened. I updated as I went after that. This year I also jumped right on getting things from the library as soon as the finalists were announced instead of waiting to see what the packet would have.
