Review: Semiprozine Round Up – Apex Magazine

More on Semiprozines – working my way through.

In the vast space of potential SF related names for magazines, we are onto the second one with ‘Apex’ in the name. Not be confused with Abyss & Apex which I reviewed earlier. Apex is edgier but also has a mix of stories, non-fiction and poetry.

Current issue here with some stories available free on the web, with more of the magazine released each week for non-subscribers.

It has a good track record of stories including Jackalope Wives (a story used as a benchmark here for judging the Hugo nominations). I wasn’t too impressed with Blood on Beacon Hill which is currently available from the latest issue without subscription.
